This week we have something special going on. We have been invited to join the OPA's Great Paint Out! This is a great opportunity to meet and share with other artists from around the state. I will be there this Saturday. Kane county is beautiful and I need a change of scenery. ;)
I hope you will be able to make it. Please email Suzanne with any questions about location, etc. Also, if you could bring a little something to share with lunch, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Oil Painters of America Great Paint Out

The artist is hosting this event at her home and studio - 15N064 White Pines Lane, Hampshire, Illinois in western Kane County. We will start to paint between 9:30 and 10:00 a.m. and end up some time between 12:30 and 1:00 p.m. If you arrive at 9:00 a.m. You can take a quick tour of the property for possible painting sites.
Suzanne's home is on seven acres of wooded oak-hickory savannah, bordered on the eastern edge (White Pines Lane) by a strip of tall grass prairie. At the northern edge, the woods opens up to a western and northern view of farmland and distant tree lines. Access paths run throughout the property. An ephemeral pond and small sedge meadow are located at the southern edge.
DIRECTIONS: Take the NW Tollway (I-90) west, follow signs to Rockford. Exit right at the Huntley Outlet Mall (Route 47 exit). Turn left (south) on to route 47, continue through Starks intersection, go under railroad viaduct to the next intersection which is Route 20 on the left and Route 72 on the right. Turn right on to Route 72 (west), go about 2 plus miles, turn left on to Brier Hill Road, about 1/2 mile later turn right (west) on to Oakshire Lane, and follow to the end, White Pines Lane. Suzanne's prairie style home is straight ahead. The artist will mail you a map upon request.
Parking is available for about five cars in front of the garage doors and visitors' spaces by the porte cochere. Artists may also park on the street along White Pines Lane.
Restrooms are available in Suzanne's home. She will provide coffee, something cool to drink, deli meats and rolls for sandwiches, but would welcome anyone bringing a dish to pass. Please RSVP to her directly, either by phone or email, if you plan to attend and if you're bringing a "goodie".
Suzanne suggests we break for lunch some time between 1 and 1:30 p.m. Dining can be inside or casual al fresco on the concrete deck facing the woods - artist's choice.
Weather will determine your wardrobe, but Deep Woods Off or some insect repellent might be a good idea, even in September. Bring bottled water to have as you paint if you like.
Paintings may be displayed in Suzanne's studio for some later review and comment by the group if anyone is interested. This might be a fun way to end the second "Great Paint Out"!
