April 12: Presentation on the History of the Palette and Chisel

Hello everyone I want to invite all of you to attend a presentation I will be making on the history of the Palette and Chisel. The talk and slide show will be on April 12 at 2:00 at the P&C. It's open to the public and is a part of the open house that will be taking place that day.

I will have about a half-hour's worth of slides and talk about the club's history. It's a subject I'm terribly keen about and would love to share my interest with you.

Please come if you can.

March 29 Oz Park

This Saturday we'll meet at Oz Park. The weather, I understand, is supposed to be good, and we can hand out cards for our group show to passers-by.

Here are directions to the park. We'll meet at about 8:30.

March 22 Division and Wood

This weekend the group will meet in a more urban setting: the corner of Division and Wood. This is a great location and there should be lots of paintings lying around to be picked up.

Remember that our show is only a few weeks away, so get out and go painting with us now in order to have a piece for the show.

WHERE

The corner of Division and Wood. Directions may be found here.

WHEN

March 15 The Grove, Glenview

This Saturday we'll return to a place that I believe the group has been to once before--the Grove in Glenview. This is a Glenview Park District property and was once the home of an early Illinois naturalist.

The park opens at 9 a.m. so let's meet then.

Directions are here.

Links Wanted, Inquire Within

If you are a PAPC member and have a website you would like to have linked on this blog, send me an email and I'll hook you up with a link as soon as I can.

This is worth a reminder because I'm sure people have started websites or changed them since I last asked about this. Send to stuartpainter at yahoo dot com.

March 8 Spring Valley Nature Center, Schaumburg

Sorry for the late posting. I'm in Tucson this week and I've been painting like I'm killing snakes. Anyway, with the Barns and Farms show coming up at the Barnsite Studio in Kewaunee, I thought the place in Schaumburg would be worth another go. Get your barns and farms at the Volkening Farm. If your not into the barnsy stuff, there is plenty else. I'll be back out a week from Saturday.

Spring Valley Nature Center is in Schaumburg, part of the Schaumburg Park District. There is a nature preserve and a "heritage farm" on the same property--Volkening Farm. The farm buildings will be closed on Saturday but the Nature Center opens at 9 a.m. We'll meet at the Nature Center (where there will be warmth) and fan out from there. The map above shows the layout of the area, although it's oriented with north toward the bottom of the page for some reason.

For directions, go here and scroll to bottom of the page. There is a link for directions. Mapquest directions are here.
